Hey friends! I feel like this home tour has been a long time coming. I kept telling myself I’d post this once we got everything just *right* in the house but I’m learning a classic homeowners lesson: there’s always one more thing. So here it is: the house we’ve come to call home- our first house we bought together.
When we were house hunting our must-haves were 1. lots of natural light 2. large gathering areas (we knew we’d be hosting youth group) 3. space for both of us to have offices (we both work from home). This house was everything we hoped for and more. First of all, see that perfect yellow door?! I mean how could I not fall for a house with a yellow door!?! The whole house was painted the prettiest shades of grey and teal and sandy beige- basically my dream color scheme- so we haven’t painted even one wall! And the master- wait till you see the master! We saw the house online before going to see it in person and initially crossed it off our list because the master was so big, but it’s now my favorite room of the house! It’s our personal sanctuary, set up for quiet times in the library and snuggles in bed.
As I think about our house and what I want this space to be, 1 Peter 4: 8-11 comes to mind: “Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies- in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.”
We genuinely feel that this home was a gift from God. If God has gifted this home to us so generously, we feel we ought to be generous with it as well. It is a space of safety, light, and warmth to middle schoolers, old friends, and family. It is a place for dance parties to Alexa in the kitchen, board games on the dining room table, and heart to hearts on the couch. It is a place to grow in grace, and forgiveness, and to be real…
Welcome to our home!
Love,
Sarah
