Emily & Jon | Hanover Tavern Wedding | Richmond Wedding Photographer

Hey friend!

Ever wondered what a full wedding day with me looks like?  Let me bring you along!

I arrive an hour before getting ready photos to scope out the venue and take pictures of the details of the day: the rings, the invitation suite, accessories and flowers. Then it’s on to getting ready photos of the girls: bridesmaids in robes, bride putting on her dress, mom fluffing her veil, all that good stuff.  Getting ready photos of the guys: putting on ties and jackets, and some good solid shots of the groom looking all dapper.  Then, it’s first look time!  Each couple does it differently, but for their first look Emily and Jon laughed and hugged and exchanged gifts.  After their first look, I take the first set of bride and groom portraits of the day.  In my ideal wedding timeline, I love to have portrait time with my couples at three points throughout the day:  the first look, after the ceremony, and right at sunset to get that perfect “golden glow.”  This allows my couples variety in their photos and more time with each other throughout the day.  Then on to bridal party photos!  I get some of the bride/bridesmaids, groom/ groomsmen and then the whole bridal party together cheering for you two!  We break to freshen up makeup and say a prayer and then it’s down the aisle to make it official!  After the ceremony the family gathers for family formals and while your family enjoys the remainder of cocktail hour, we have a few minutes to get some “just married” bride and groom portraits in.  You’re just so darn happy to be married, these photos are usually my favorites.  Then we break to bustle the dress, use the bathroom and get you ready for your entrance- let the party begin!  Throughout the reception you can find me tearing up over your toasts and getting down on the dance floor with you and your guests.  At some point right before sunset we’ll sneak out and get some glowy photos of you two soaking the day in, making magic together.  Then it’s back to the dance floor and CAKE and before you know it you’re running down to your car as your guests cheer and sparklers crackle!

Happy wedding day, you two.  I am so grateful to be a part of it.

Sarah
