I’ve struggled in the past with how to explain and define what a styled shoot is to my friends and peers who are not in the wedding world. After lots of fumbling, I was thrilled when a friend defined it perfectly this past week: “So a styled shoot means all the beauty of wedding photos but with more creative control? That’s awesome!!”
Yes, it’s so awesome! It’s an opportunity for photographers and wedding vendors to collaborate and stretch their creative muscles together- simply for the joy of creating something beautiful! I think Jesus smiles down on projects like this in my career because they break down that simply: I want to create beauty, for beauty’s sake. He smiles, because I’m using the gifts and talents he gave me to capture just a slice of the beauty of his world and people, building important relationships along the way.
In this post you will find: cake and ice cream photos (you know I’m all about ice cream on a wedding day!), all the romantic dock photos with a gorgeous custom made swiss-dotted veil, row boat photos that feel straight out of The Little Mermaid (we were definitely singing “Kiss the Girl” while they rowed!), dancing photos under the twinkle lights at the very spot Dan proposed to Mel just a year ago (they danced to their first dance song “How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You”), and detail photos of the many amazing florals and details that made this shoot extra pretty. I’ll link all of the vendors at the end of the post!
Enjoy some of the dreamiest images I’ve ever created…
Love,
Sarah
